The Cybercab’s first week was about proving it could carry passengers at all. The second week is about something different: where the car goes next, what ordinary riders actually think after a real trip, and the stream of small upgrades that keep arriving around it. Europe Is Waiting on a Vote #

The quirks were hard to miss. The windshield wipers switched on mid-ride on a sunny 95-degree day — twice. Halfway through the trip, the car drifted into a lane that would have forced an unwanted left turn onto the highway before correcting itself. And the drop-off logic is the weakest part of the experience so far: video posted by riders shows Cybercabs stopping in the middle of busy roads, and the reporter had a similar moment at Barton Springs. The absence of a rearview mirror also lingers as a feeling, even for passengers who have nothing to check it for. Small Upgrades That Make Rides Easier #

Tesla’s Robotaxi account spent the week shipping quiet improvements rather than making announcements. The app, which briefly became the No. 1 free travel app on the App Store, now shows whether an incoming car is a two-seat Cybercab or a five-seat Model Y, glows in sync with the Cybercab’s RGB front light bar, and lets you flash the lights or honk the horn to find your ride. Public Cybercab rides in Austin were moved earlier, to 2:00 p.m. CT, after demand ran ahead of the planned 5:00 p.m. window. Tesla also confirmed the seats are built at standard wheelchair height to make transfers easier — a move that earned a 10/10 from a paraplegic rider — and showed a cabin demo where riders talk to Grok in plain language to adjust climate, play YouTube, or queue music without touching the screen. These details are small, but for a vehicle with no driver and no manual controls, they are the entire user interface.

The most tangible hardware signal came from the air. Drone photographer Joe Tegtmeyer, who regularly flies over Gigafactory Texas, posted footage on September 8 showing rows of gold Cybercabs leaving the factory — for the first time, many of them carrying the Starlink module on the hatch. Earlier coverage had caught a single gold prototype with the antenna; an outbound lot full of them reads like a production decision rather than a one-off retrofit.
